What a rare thing this must be, love that is all grown up and everything.

Attachment can engender possessiveness, selfishness, greed, jealousy and encourage a false sense of having, e.g. “my boyfriend”, “my wife”, etc. I am beginning to see only the healthiest of souls can really handle a life companion. Our society is too disposable and we are programmed around that idea. Now, if companionship is provided in a truly supportive environment for human growth, encouraging a loving, realistic regard for each other’s individuality and really has true responsibility and maturity, then it might work. But how many people do you know have the ability and selflessness to work with those concepts?

I finally had to admit this year that sex (and romance) has held me back from a more wholehearted pursuit of what I perceive as the only worthy goal in life – serenity. In other words, at least for now, I’d rather seek ‘enlightenment’ than get laid.

As Nathanial Brandon so beautifully put it……………”No one is coming.”
