The air time is voluminous but not necessarily interesting or informative or even pro-Obama (overseas trip aside). I do concede that he’s being covered like an incumbent candidate or like a historically viable black presidential candidate. He’s acting presidential. Incidentally, BIL in Iraq tells DH that Iraq should be ready for independence in 18 mos then two days later we hear it from Obama. Hmmm. What are they discussing there in Baghdad?

I only mention the money because in this blog you emphasize how unusual it is for a Dem to raise more funds than a Rep when in reality the Reps will likely still have more moula. I didn’t even get into PAC money or swiftboating or vote machine contracting. Boring television news ain’t gonna make up for that.

How much behind on fundraising do you think Obama is when you figure in the value of all the free airtime he’s getting from this overseas trip? I’m guessing having Maliki say “Obama’s right, 16 months and bye bye” is worth at least $3 million in ads.

Additionally, once McCain takes the matching funds, Obama will still need to have those $50M months just to keep up. If McCain doesn’t have to focus on raising moula while Obama still does, then perhaps that will give McCain time to renovate his plan.
