My sister and fellow blogger, MindOverMary, is in town with her friend, Robin, of whom Mary sometimes writes. Sis went to dinner with Mom before joining me for the Wednesday movie (“Closer” with Jude Law, Clive Owen, Julia Roberts and Natalee Portman, directed by Mike Nichols). We missed Oz, who’s vacationing in the islands that may or may not be the natural born birthplace of our president. Gah! Oklahoma goes national once again for attaining extremes in political asshattery. Thanks, Sen. Inhofe for making us all look bad.

My daughter and her family visited and I got lots of grandkid time. One can hardly get too much, nor even enough, grankid time, so I am happy but not satiated with what was great fun to fix GK and Parrish breakfast and to run around with them with the top down on my car.
My SIL went for a very long jog while he was here, rather longer than he intended, he admits.
I got in a nice, long father-daughter talk with Rebecca and she, as always, teaches me a great deal. RebL, you are the apple of your father’s eye.
Meanwhile, stalwart son in New Orleans, who made me snort and giggle with a Tweet a day or so ago, is about to be visited by Mary and Robin, the self-styled new Thelma and Louise. The Gary reveals he’s headed for the east coast at the end of next month and I’m thinking, hmmmmm……
It’s storming tonight and I’ve been outside under my eaves watching it. I love the weather when it’s like this. I really like that smell of lightning-ionized air, so clean and fresh smelling, the dust settled and the car exhaust scrubbed down. I love that smell of wet leaves and dirt and the sound of the branches swaying with the wind in the trees. I like it when it’s pouring, when it comes in sheets and when the whole air is filled with more water than oxygen, it appears. Bolt, cloud-to-cloud and sheet lightning instantly bathe color into the grays of the cityscape. I’ve not watched tonight, but some part of me is fond of the way our OKC weathermen go nuts with every drop of rain and track the last bit of 30+ mph wind and the very last ground bolt. It was hail last night, so I’m holding off on television until I can watch the weather AND the carlot hailstorm automobilllllleeeee GIVEAWAY! Won’tcha hurry on down to the magnificent mile of cars?!
Now for some Lou Reed.
