Knowing that one of my teenage jobs was at Tower Theater (and that it’s where I learned to absolutely hate “The Sound of Music”), Osager teases me with a montage of photos of the now defunct 23rd Street landmark.
Notice that men wore suits and that even young men wore slacks and ties to go out. One of the photos stunned me when I realized one of the young ladies was wearing white gloves.
The hills are alive
with the sound of mucus
ragweed all around
makes me snort and wheeze …

Huh. I thought they only showed Peliculas en Espanol.
giggle, giggle
snort, snort
The Hills Are Alive With The Sound of Music……………………….
I LOVE those pictures!!! Those were the good ole days. It makes me so sad to see what 23rd street has become. It used to be so fine. Gee whiz!

Awesome photos! So, how long did the Sound of Music run? That’s really kind of too bad you have such negative memories of it, but understandable. And yeah, definitely the culture of modesty and decorum, respect of self and others, has slid faaaar down that slippery slope! Ah, well, it’s a hoot looking back! I can almost imagine knowing you as that necktied-young stud back then. They made for great props, actually
Uh, where are the black people?
