PASEO FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND
The street musician above said her name was Meghan and she was much more cute than she was a really great musician, but it was Paseo Festival and that means colorful and musical.
I wasn’t quite ready for how sticky it was on the eve of a late evening thundershower, but really the weather Saturday was just about perfect for a visit to the Paseo Fest. I saw fellow blogger Flibbertigibbit, who believes she may have met her future husband yesterday, according to her tweet. Also saw MCARP and listened with him for awhile to a jazz singer named Ellington at the North Stage. Hung out with some non-Paseo friends, including a musician friend who will be playing at 1 p.m. at the South stage during the weekend.
Some random friends I caught at the festival include Blake, Christopher and Andrea, all enjoying the music and the festival at the South Stage.
Of course, I saw lots of other folks but it’s hard to remember to take phone photos when you’re having fun. I only was there for a couple of hours because I knew I’d be back today and likely tomorrow as well. I really didn’t look all that closely at the art, just a walkby for almost all the tents. For one thing, the fest seems to have grown tremendously, but part of that seems to be a kind of “rump” festival that’s on the far south end below the South Stage. That’s been an internal fight for several years now because those tents don’t pay the vig to the Paseo Artist Association. The empty lot on the Southwest corner of the festival has been a children’s payground in the past, but this year it had both artists and food booths. Among the things I like about the festival is the smell of the roasting almonds and the cinnamon they put on them, it’s THE smell of the festival for me.
Later in the evening Saturday, I went to Edgemere for my routine drubbing at cards at the hands of those who claim to be my friends. LynneX took the time to tell me that I looked extra special skinny in my first of the past two seasons pair of walking shorts. My legs hadn’t seen the light of day in a very long time and she was kind enough to point out that my legs are quite thin and that I have hardly any ass at all. Yes, yes yes. It’s true. If I had any less bottom, I’d have to sit on my “‘package.” Thanks for pointing it out, LynneX. I ate lots of brownies to try and gain back the weight.
A special shout out to Little Miss Sunshine who has family with severe health problems. Love you, baby. Hang in there.
I understand Nurse K is back from Africa with an endless series of photos of little brown/black babies in poverty. I’ve missed the slideshow, but I’m apparently one of the very few. I should get out more, I guess.
Finally, I would like to send a very special thank you to “Muffy”, who made my weekend and walking shorts possible. I still love you, honey, and I always will.
